Migrate Workflow to a Different Server

  1. Install the Workflow software on a new server.

  2. Set up the 32-bit ODBC connection for Workflow on the new server (see the Workflow Installation Guide for more information).

  3. Verify the version of Workflow you’ve installed on the new server. This can be done by opening the Workflow Administrator module then clicking Help > About Perspective Workflow Administrator. The version will appear as 2000.#.#.

  4. Contact Resolver Support to request a license for Workflow on the new server. You’ll need to provide us with the version number and server name.

  5. Once you’ve received the new license, open Workflow Administrator, then click Help > About Perspective Workflow Administrator > License.

  6. Copy and paste the license you received from Resolver in the License Code field, then enter any other information in the additional fields as necessary.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Verify the version of Workflow you're running on the source server. This can be done by opening the Workflow Administrator module then clicking Help > About Perspective Workflow Administrator. The version will appear as 2000.#.#.

  9. Turn off your existing Workflow service by opening Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services, then right-clicking Perspective Workflow then clicking Stop.

  10. Navigate to your Workflow directory. By default, this directory is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Resolver Inc\Perspective Workflow.

  11. Select and copy the following folders to your clipboard:

    • Attachments

    • Data

    • Reports

    • Scripts

    • Webcaster

  12. Move the folders you copied to the target server, overwriting the existing folders in your Workflow directory.

  13. Optional: If you’re running Workflow on a SQL backend, run the Reset Database Location module and enter your new license key in the module.

Note: You’ll need to enter your license key upon opening any Workflow module.

  14. Optional: If the Workflow version on your target server is a newer version, run the Upgrade previous version database to v8 module to upgrade Workflow.

  15. Turn the new Workflow service on by opening Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services, right-clicking Perspective Workflow, then clicking Start.
