Edit a Query's Boolean Logic

When creating report queries in Perspective, there might be times where no data is returned. A possible cause for this could be how the boolean logic has been written. In order to resolve this, users can edit the query's boolean logic.

To edit the boolean logic of a query:

  1. Log into Perspective.
  2. Right-click the query that is not returning the expected results and click Edit. mceclip0.png
  3. Examine the boolean logic in the Criteria Designer section. mceclip1.png
  4. In the above example, the reason no results are returned is because B, C, D, E, and F are all sites, and G, H, and I are all classes. Because the boolean logic uses AND for fields of the same category, it is unable to return any results. In addition, the placement of parentheses is confusing. In order to return the desired results, all fields of the same category must be placed in their own parenthesis with OR.mceclip1.png
  5. Running the query with the updated boolean logic should display the desired results.mceclip4.png
